Planning

Planning is where the whole process starts.

Ideally we recommend to clients that they discuss their ideas with their neighbours, to ensure that the whole process runs as smoothly as possible.

Another recommendation is to gain pre-application planning advice from the local district council, this can pave the way for a succesful project and eliminate costly re-designs at a later stage.

The first meeting will be an initial consultation, to ascertain the proposed changes and also to have a first hand visit of the property involved. After this, we send out a detailed estimate including all costs to the client. Once this has been agreed we will then visit the site to take reference photos and also measure up the property. Following on from this, depending on current workload, the drawing up of existing plans and then proposed design drawing will take between two to three weeks. During this time we will liaise closely with the client to ensure that their project delivers what they require and also eliminate any costly design oversights. As we are fully versed in Building Control Submission we are also able to give extra, expert advise to ensure that, that stage of the project will run smoothly.

Typically the planning stage will take eight weeks from submission to the local district council. During this period we contact the relevant District Council to ensure that the application is proceeding as planned. We are able to submit these electronically on clients’ behalf or can submit them in paper form.
